Lee Jackson Bio

Rider Profile

Lee began his racing career in 1996 racing with as many different clubs as he could on a Yamaha TZ125. He won 36 club races in his first season and also won the Retford Club Championship. In September of that year he took part in his 1st 125cc British Championship race at Donington Park on a Honda RS125. He qualified 26th and finished 15th in race one and crashed out of 9th place in race two.

In his second year of racing, Lee competed in the 125cc National Championship and won the Superclub 125GP class and was crowned Grand Champion. 1998 saw Lee enter his first full season of British 125cc racing. He had a race win at his home circuit of Cadwell Park and finished 6th overall in the Championship.

For 1999 Lee swapped to the British 250cc class. He started the year off well and had a podium finish at Oulton Park. The following meeting, held at Mallory Park, Lee had a massive high side coming out of Devils Elbow and badly broke his left ankle which left him needing crutches for 6 months. This would be the end of his 1999 250cc campaign.

Concentrating on the upcoming 2000 season, Lee signed a deal to ride a Honda 250 for Padgetts of Batley. He finished 5th in the championship that year. Lee also competed as a wildcard in the British 250cc GP at Donington Park that year. Unfortunately Lee crashed out of the race in extremely wet conditions.

2001 saw a big change for Lee as he moved up to the British Superbike class. He rode a Yamaha R7 and finished 2nd privateer to Shane Byrne and 10th in the overall championship.

For 2002, Lee ran his own Superbike team again, this time building a 1000cc Honda. After a disappointing start to the year he changed bikes to a Yamaha R1 for the last 4 rounds and had a better end to the year.

In 2003 Lee signed for the Hawk Kawasaki team on a 750cc bike competing against 1000cc machines. However, Lee had a strong year on the Kawasaki and finished 11th in the championship. 2004 saw a move to the British Supersport class riding a Honda CBR 600RR. Unfortunately the team ran out of funds half way through the year and Lee was left without a ride. He was approached and asked to stand in for David Johnson in the Superstock class riding a Yamaha R1 for Krystal Racing. Lee soon adapted to the new bike and enjoyed pole positions and podium finishes.

After deciding that Superstock was where he wanted to continue racing, Lee was delighted to be asked to ride for Krystal in the 2005 season. The team worked well together having a great season resulting in winning the Superstock Championship. They had more pole positions, podium finishes and front row starts than any other team also enjoying a win at Cadwell Park.

For 2006 Lee signed for the TW2 Motorsport team to ride the all new Kawasaki ZX10R. This proved to be a mistake with the team not fulfilling its promises, consequently rider and team parted company. Tony, Sue and Carl at Krystal offered Lee a ride for the remainder of the season and Lee was once again enjoying podium finishes.

In 2007 Lee rode for Krystal Racing in the Superstock championship on a Yamaha R1. He was also offered a ride at the Bol D'Or 24 hour endurance race for French team, Impact Vitesse, also on a Yamaha. Unfortunately Lee was taken out of the race by another rider only 5 hours in. Lee was injured in this crash and consequently missed two rounds of the British Championship. Lee ended up finishing 6th overall.
